➕Zero waste humanitarian aid 🙌🏻 Our partners from @patrol_chaplain in Sumy using cardboard from our shipments to make so-called “trench candles”. Russian forces are destroying Ukraine’s civil infrastructure (power stations and the electricity grid) causing regular blackouts and disrupting heating and water supplies. So now these candles are serving civilians too. Trench candles are very easy to make. Empty tin cans are cut to size (up to 8 cm) 🥫🥫🥫🥫Then you insert a strips of corrugated cardboard rolled into a spiral. The can is then filled with hot paraffin or wax. Candle can burn for several hours and provide warmth as well as light. The candles have been used by troops in the World War Two via Instagram
